AGM

Thank you to all of you who contributed to our virtual AGM. We had 62 responses, with 58 suggested donations to TAAG. Following the comments received from the membership we are now in the process of considering the way forward. The minutes of the AGM, together with a copy of the new committee members and their contact details, have been sent to all members as a newsletter. We will soon clarify the donation to TAAG.

Newsletter 2 April 2020

Hope everyone is staying safe, staying at home as much as possible and managing to keep busy (painting we hope).

Publicity

Our committee member Keith Bowcock has recently made contact with the Mid Devon Advertiser. They are keen to publish regular write ups about the Teignmouth Art Society, which will help raise our profile in the community. Keith is therefore asking if members could send him an email with one or two of their pictures entered into our Virtual Exhibition on Facebook. Printing demands a much higher resolution than the internet so please send the best file you have. Artists should include their name, the title of the artwork and medium used, together with a short write up about themselves and how the picture relates to the month’s theme:

April: Marine

May: Still Life

June: Landscape

Keith’s email is kg.bowcock@hotmail.com phone 01626870991

Facebook

Thank you to everyone that has uploaded photos so far and we’d love to see many more pieces of artwork on display. Please join in if you can, and vote for your favourites. Family and friends can also visit the site and vote. All entries are uploaded here on our April Gallery page.

We’d also love to see what you have been working on at home, whether it’s sketching what you can see from your window, pictures from one of the many online art challenges, or just painting for pleasure, please feel free to post them on our Facebook page.

Please do not hesitate to contact Sarah re uploading onto Facebook,  07751795188  art20sagar@gmail.com

Take care everyone.

Virtual TAS

On behalf of all the committee I would like to send you our best wishes and hope that you are all keeping safe at this difficult time. We are keen to keep all our members well informed and be able to provide opportunities to keep the society functioning. Art can be a very therapeutic pastime.

One new activity will be a virtual exhibition each month, which will be undertaken via our Teignmouth Art Society Facebook page and linked with our website www.teignmouthartsociety.co.uk. Up to 2 pieces of original artwork can be submitted. Members and non-members can vote for their favourite picture by clicking on the ‘like’ button. The work with the most ‘likes’ by 2pm on the last day of the month will be awarded Best Artwork of the Month. It will also help to raise the profile of our talented individual artists.

Themes for each month, using any medium, including 3D artwork:

April: Marine

May: Still Life – any subject

June: Landscape

Suggestions for our newsletter to Sarah at art20sagar@gmail.com or 0775 1795188.

If you are not on the internet family or friends could post your artwork to be entered into the competitions (Sarah is happy to explain over the phone). Others are setting up WhatsApp groups through their mobile phone, meaning you can then send texts, photos and even video chat.

Covid-19 update

Dear Teignmouth Art Society members, it is with regret we have to announce the following events have been cancelled due to government guidelines and the Coronavirus pandemic.

Wednesday Workshops

Teignmouth Art Society AGM (was due to be held on 29 April 2020) – more details and voting to follow shortly.

Teignmouth Art Society Spring Exhibition

At the moment we are unable to confirm whether the summer Outdoor Sketching Days or the Summer Exhibition will go ahead, but will base our decision on gGovernment advice nearer the time.

Whilst we are unable to offer face-to-face activities at the moment, we are looking into ways we can support our members. One idea is to hold a Virtual TAS Spring Exhibition on our Facebook page, where our members could post the pictures they were going to exhibit. Continue reading “Covid-19 update”
