Liana Lilley-Earley is an intuitive /expressive artist, life coach/therapist and author of
The Magic Touch, which gives her a particular take on how we support ourselves to
take creative risks and grow. Many of you already know her from her Art; Wellbeing
workshops at the Pavilions Art Centre.
Her own work is colourful, bold, loose and constantly changing! As a tutor, she is
known for building confidence in artists, helping them break through blocks and
develop their own style.
She says, ‘most of my students say they want to paint more loosely and that starts
in the mind and body. We need to create ideal conditions, not least a helpful mental
attitude and have an understanding of left- and right-hand brain thinking.’
.
In this experiential workshop, we will discuss the key elements that help us be brave
and move beyond our status quo in painting. What helps us take risks, what stops
us, how can we be freer. Recognizing our own personality as an artist and
understanding what place right and left-brain thinking has.
Then we jump into playing! Some creative exercises with the pressure off, to
experience her Pegasus Process of creative risk taking: you can take a break as she
demonstrates...... then comes the challenge......to continue to integrate this freer
style as we plan and create a painting!
Discovering the importance of our initial sketch or marks, you may choose a
landscape/flowers/abstract or whatever you like [bring an inspiration picture or use
one of mine] in your favourite media. [ bringing at least one water-based media for
speed and a ‘ground’ of at least a3 to be bold is recommended! Do look at the
materials list in good time for suggestions].
This is an opportunity for the space to be braver and bolder-in all senses!
Liana has a clear, step by step teaching style, packed with tips. She creates a warm,
fun atmosphere in which to experiment, ask questions and develop to find your
‘happy place’ in art.
All students will be invited to join her free Artist’s Circle.
